Bhutan Highlight tour (11 days/10 night)

Days 1: Arrival Paro – Thimphu

Upon arrival you will be well come by our represented we will drive toward thimphu for an hour drive and check into hotel. At evening visit main street of thimphu for some interesting Himalayan artifacts or textile and overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Sightseeing Thimphu

After breakfast, you will visit at National memorial chorten, built in memory of the third king jigme dorji wangchuk. Next drive up to the Kuensel phodrang (Buddha point) where we can have view of thimphu vallay, then visit to the Folk heritage museum, a showcase of the Bhutanese artefacts used in rural households. Later visit the 13th century changgangkha temple, mini zoo for Takin (national animal of Bhutan), then visit nunnery monastery where one can have good view for tashichodzong. Overnight at thimphu.

Day 3: Thimphu – Punakha

We will check out from hotel and drive to punakha for about 3 hours over Dochula pass at 3050m. On clear weather we can enjoy a spectacular view of the highest mountains of Bhutan at a site that stretches almost 180 degrees. Punakha, at an altitude of 1,300m, was once the old capital of Bhutan and the seat of government until 1955. We will visit the Punakha Dzong which is strategically located at the confluence of the phochhu (male) and Mochhu (female) rivers built in 1637. Overnight at Punakha.

Day 4: Punakha to Gantey

After breakfast, we will hike to Khamsum yulay Namgyal chorten which will take about 45 mins to reach on top, built by the Queen mother of the 5th king to bring universal peace in the world.

Then drive a distance of 78 km for about 3 hours to Gantey known as phobjikha. Phobjikha valley which is famous for Black Necked Cranes. These cranes migrate here from Tibet to escape the harsh winters, they arrive in the month of September and October and fly back to Tibet between February and March. Overnight stay at Gangtey.

Day 5: Gantey to Bumthang

After breakfast, we will travel Bumthang distance of 120 km with Trongsa. On the route stop at the Chendebji chorten located below the road. Before reaching to Bumthang for about 2 hour drive, we will visit to the Yathra weaving centre at chumey, where they use yak and sheep wools for yathra product with patterns unique of bumthang. Overnight in Bumthang.

Day 6: Sightseeing Bumthang

Full day sightseeing of Bumthang valley. You will visit the following monasteries temples and Dzongs such as the jakar Dzong, the Jambay Lhakhang, the kurjey lhakhang, and Tamshing Goemba. If time permits we will visit Swiss cheese factory and Diary Farm in Bumthang. Overnight in Bumthang.

Day 7: Bumthang – Ura

After breakfast drive to Ura Valley. On the route you will visit the membartsho (Burning Lake) where renowned treasure reveler, terton Pema Lingpa discovered treasures from this Lake in the late 15th century. Later drive back to Bumthang for overnight in Bumthang.

Day 8: Bumthang – Punakha

After breakfast you will say to good bye to go back to Punakha. On the route you will visit the Ta Dzong, (watch Tower) in Trongsa which stand impressive and provide an insight into historical significance of Trongsa in the country’s history. Resume your journey to punakha. Evening at leisure. Overnight in punakha.

Day 9: Punakha – Paro

After breakfast you will walk to the Chimmi lhakhang, the temple of fertility built by lams Drukpa Kinley (the Divine madman). The couples wishing to have baby from across the country and occasionally from oversea are blessed with a child after visiting this temple. Lunch will at Thimphu and you may have final shopping. Evening drive to Paro. Overnight at Paro.

Day 10: Sightseeing at Paro

You will hike to Taktshang monastery known as Tiger’s Nest on well-maintained trail through beautiful pine forest, trees festooned with Spanish moss and fluttering prayer flags. The monastery is on the edge of steep cliff, about 900 m above the paro vally. Later you will visit to Ta Dzong (national Museum) and then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong which has a long and fascination history. Overnight at Paro

Day 11: Departure

After breakfast and drive to the airport for departure. Our representative will help with check-in formalities and bid you farewell.
