Glimpse of Bhutan

Day 1: Arrival to Paro

Upon arrival, you will be greet by our representative and transfer to hotel in paro for overnight stay. Later you will visit to Ta Dzong (national Museum) and then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong which has a long and fascination history.

 Day 2: Thimphu

After breakfast, you will drive to Thimphu for an about one hour. Then you will visit at National memorial chorten, built in memory of the third king jigme dorji wangchuk. Next drive up to the Kuensel phodrang (Buddha point) where we can have view of thimphu vallay, then visit to the Folk heritage museum, a showcase of the Bhutanese artefacts used in rural households. Later visit the 13th century changgangkha temple, mini zoo for Takin (national animal of Bhutan). Overnight at Thimphu.

 Day 3: Sightseeing at Thimphu

After breakfast, you will drive to north end of Thimphu valley and hike to Tango Monastery, which is converted to Buddhist College. Later you’ll visit to the Centenary Farmer’s Market on the banks of the Wangchhu River selling farm produces, Local arts and crafts, etc. if time permits, visit the Tashichhodzong, which houses some ministries, the office and throne room of His Majesty the king and Central Monk Body. Overnight at Thimphu.

 Day 4: Thimphu to Punakha

Today you’ll be drive to Punakha distance of 77 km for about 3 hours journey. Punakha, at an altitude of 1,300m was once the old capital of Bhutan and the seat of government until 1955. On route, at the clear day at Dochula pass (3050m) we can enjoy a spectacular view of the highest mountains of Bhutan at a site that stretches almost 180 degrees. Further driving down, you’ll visit the Chimmi lhakhang, the temple of fertility built by lams Drukpa Kinley (the Divine madman). The couples wishing to have baby from across the country and occasionally from oversea are blessed with a child after visiting this temple. Overnight at Punakha.

 Day 5: Sightseeing Punakha

After breakfast, you will visit Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 which is strategically located at the confluence of the Phochhu (male) and Mochhu (female) Rivers. Later you will hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten built by the Queen Mother of the 5th King to bring universal peace in the world. The hike will take 45 mins through rice fields before climbing a moderately inclined trail surrounded by pine trees. Overnight at Punakha.

 Day 6: Wangdue Phodrang to Paro

Today you visit the ruined site of Wangdue Phodrang Dzong by fire in late June 2012, which is perched on a ridge overlooking the Punatshangchu and Dangchu Rivers. Stop at the Rinchengang village which is a unique cluster of houses made up of red mud. Then drive to paro for about 3-4 hours journey. On the route stop at Thimphu if you have to do final shopping. Overnight at Paro.

 Day 7: Sightseeing Paro

Early Morning drive to north end of paro valley and hike to Taktshang Monastery known as Tiger Nest. The temple is perched on the edge of a steep cliff and takes about 2 hours climb on well- maintained trail through beautiful pine forest, trees festooned with Spanish Moss and fluttering prayer flags. Later you visit Drukgyal Dzong (fortress) built in 1646 and kichu Lhakhang, one from the 2 oldest Buddhist temple in the country. Evening at Leisure and Overnight in Paro.

 Day 8: Departure

After breakfast, you will be transfer to the airport for your departure flight. Your tour guide will bid you farewell at the airport departure gate.
